Tunisia Standardisation Law — Law No. 2009-38 of 2009

Tunisia's product-standards and conformity regime rests on Law No. 2009-38 of 30 June 2009 relating to the national standardisation system (published in the Journal Officiel de la République Tunisienne, JORT No. 54, 7 July 2009 — confirmed by direct reading of the primary text). Article 18 repealed the earlier Law No. 82-66 of 6 August 1982 (JORT No. 54, 10-13 August 1982), and Article 17 confirms this 1982 law is the one that originally created the Institut National de la Normalisation et de la Propriété Industrielle (INNORPI), whose assets and obligations were transferred to the institute re-established under the 2009 law. Law No. 2009-38 was itself later amended by Law No. 2016-16 of 3 March 2016. Implementing decrees, including Decree No. 2011-1083 of 21 July 2011, set the categories and development/approval procedures for Tunisian standards, while INNORPI's own administrative and financial organisation is fixed by Decree No. 2010-1087 of 17 May 2010. INNORPI remains the public body tasked with developing standards, product/service quality certification, and industrial-property protection. This is the standing legal basis behind Mutabiq's Tunisia technical-regulation alerts — such as the voluntary paper cup/pot safety standard NM 04.3.100 — which INNORPI issues under this authority; note that mandatory conformity certification only applies to product categories INNORPI has specifically designated as such.
