Bahrain's core consumer-protection and product-safety framework is a single instrument: Law No. 35 of 2012 with Respect to Consumer Protection, issued by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Article 2 guarantees consumers' right to health and safety in normal product use, accurate product information, and free choice of quality goods; Article 3 requires suppliers to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and technical requirements guaranteeing a product's safety and fitness for use. Article 7 sets out Bahrain's product-recall mechanism: on learning of a defect that risks consumer health or safety, a supplier must halt production or distribution, warn consumers against using the product, notify the Ministry of Industry and Commerce's Consumer Protection Directorate, and — at the consumer's request — replace or refund the product at no extra cost. Enforcement and complaint-handling sit with the Ministry's Consumer Protection Directorate. Bahrain's technical-regulation and standards regime (administered separately by the Bahrain Standards and Metrology Directorate, BSMD) implements this law's safety requirements for specific product categories.
